DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS
Ernest W. Harrison, E.M., President, is a Mining Engineer with 35 years direct experience in all facets of the mining industry. As a member of one of Canada's most prominent mining families, he has been exposed to mining concepts from his earliest recollections. Starting out as a miner in "Harrison" led activities, he was rapidly advanced to Vice President of Operations. With seasoning at this level and gaining a superb grasp of the norms and complexities of the industry he became President and CEO of the Harrison Group of Companies. In this position he inter-faced with the industry at the highest corporate levels directing and managing a complete range of Contracting Management, Engineering and Construction Services. He is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines with an Honours Degree of Engineer of Mines.
Marty Martinello, B.A., Executive Vice President and Director of the Company, graduate of the University of Western Ontario, worked for 30 plus years in the Natural Resources industry where experiences ranged from conception to start-up of greenfield operations to turn-around of low margin, border-line facilities to highly profitable businesses. Organization and delegation have been a hallmark of his career along with the ability to work with people at all levels both in the private and public sector. This has produced an expertise in obtaining government grants and loans and also private funding for both capital projects and research and development. This involvement has created an amicable and respected rapport with regulatory government bodies and agencies. Marty has held several high-profile, responsible positions as President and C.E.O., National Sales Manager, Division Manager and private entrepreneur. All of which have been successfully performed.
John Balazovic, Director of the Company and also Executive Vice-President of Syldan Consultants Inc., has in excess of 35 years of expertise in the financial services sector dealing with both private and public companies. His experience includes some 25 years in public accounting practice, 17 years as a partner and office managing partner of a big 5 accounting firm as well as 5 years with an investment banking firm and latterly as a consultant in both the financial and general management areas. During his time in investment banking, Mr. Balazovic was involved in both public offerings and private placements which included liaison with the various securities commissions and stock exchanges. In addition, his past experience includes direct involvement in the mining industry where he was controller of a junior operating mine.
Clarence R. Marchand, P. Eng., V.P. Engineering of the Company, is a Mining Engineer with 45 years worldwide experience in the mining industry. He has been involved in a wide variety of Contracting, Management, Engineering and Construction Services as well as "hands on" day to day efforts in field exploration projects and production mining both open pit and underground. He is a graduate of the Haileybury School of Mines and McGill University, Montreal.
Edward I. Bettiol, P.Eng, Vice President Mining, attended the Haileybury School of Mines and was later enrolled as a P. Eng.. Of his 44 years experience, mostly in gold mining, more than 30 years have been in senior mining positions, including some 20 years as Manager of gold, silver and base metal mines. He has spent the last 4 years as a Consulting Engineer for mining projects in Canada, the U.S.A., Mexico, Uruguay, Algeria and the Czech Republic. His professional affiliations include membership in the: PEO, PEQ, CIMM and SME.
Robert J. Chase, B.A. (Econ), Treasurer/Controller and Director of the company, graduate of The University of Toronto, has held several leading posts during a 10 year span in the financial industry including Associate Director of the Treasury Department of the Bank of Nova Scotia, and Chief Funding Officer for Scotia McLeod Inc. Robert is a Chartered Financial Analyst candidate and has received a Fellowship at the Canadian Securities Institute.
Bruce Hauser, Director of the company, has been President and Treasurer of Bruce Hauser Investments Limited since 1991.
